No era familiar al trabajo del fotógrafo argentino, Marcos Lopez, hasta que una amiga me lo presentó hace unas semanas y es la hora y sigo fascinado con él; especialmente con su trabajo de los 90's el cual creo, es su mejor obra.
Los personajes bizarros siempre intentando comerse la cámara, la extraña profundidad y perspectivas, el color ridículamente excesivo -en algunos casos exagerado, producto de procesos de quemados en el laboratio; los mensajes polítics, el imaginario de íconos latinos y piezas pop latinas (Santos y dinosaurios), el sabor de la gráfica argentina de los 90's, el ácido sentido del humor y la vibra noventera kitsch-latin-lover-chulo no hacen sino de esta obra, belleza y arte puro.



I wasnt familiar to the work of argentinian photographer, Marcos Lopez, until a friend introduced to me some weeks ago and I'm still fascinated with it; specially, with the 90's work which I think it's him at his best.
The bizarre characters always trying to eat the camera, the weird depth and perspectives, the ridiculous excess of color -some times exagerated by product of burning process in the lab; the political message, the imagery of latin icons and latin pop pieces (Saints and dinosaurs), the argentina graphic flavor of the 90's, the acid sense of humor and the huge 90's kitsch-latin-lover-chulo feeling the photos have are nothing but gorgeousness and pure art.

Ha pasado de todo en relación a /\/\/\Y/\, el último lanzamiento de M.I.A: El artículo del NYTimes que ensucia su imagen, su pelea con Diplo (productor y exnovio) y comentarios por parte de productores en cuando a su falta de interés en el álbum; las malas críticas que ha recibido el álbum en comparación a sus dos álbumes previos. Es un camino dificil para M.I.A ahora, pero estoy seguro que ella le gusta caminar sobre las piedras.

A mi no me importa la crítica ni nada de lo que escribí arriba. Creo que este álbum sí, no es el mejor de ella pero es pura brillantez, genialidad e inteligencia (la canción 'Lovalot' -que trata sobre el suicido con bombas- es absurdamente brillante!!). Lo único que le falta al álbum es cohesión entra las canciones. Después de la 6ta canción, StoryToBeTold, te pierdes y el álbum se torna pesado pero aún así, cada canción puesta sola, suena increible.

El video para su primer sencillo, XXXO, está a punto de ser lanzado. Tal vez ayude al álbum y levante expectativas. Con M.I.A nunca se sabe... o tal vez sí.



There has been a lot going on M.I.A's last release, /\/\/\Y/\: The supposed NYTimes article backlashing her, the feud with Diplo and comments on her lack of interest on this album; the bad critics the album has gotten after 2 aclaimed albums. It's a rocky road for M.I.A now, but I'm sure she loves to walk on rocks.

I really dont give a damn about the critics and what I just wrote above. I think this album is not her best (yeah, I can't fight that) but it's pure brillance, genius and clever (The song 'Lovalot' -which is about suicide bombimg- it's absolutely brilliant!!). The only thing the album lacks it's cohesion. After the 6th song, StoryToBeTold, you get lost and the album becomes heavy but still, each song played by itself, sounds amazing.

The video for her first single, XXXO is about to be released. Maybe it would lift the expectations. With M.I.A you never know... or maybe you do.
