No era familiar al trabajo del fotógrafo argentino, Marcos Lopez, hasta que una amiga me lo presentó hace unas semanas y es la hora y sigo fascinado con él; especialmente con su trabajo de los 90's el cual creo, es su mejor obra.
Los personajes bizarros siempre intentando comerse la cámara, la extraña profundidad y perspectivas, el color ridículamente excesivo -en algunos casos exagerado, producto de procesos de quemados en el laboratio; los mensajes polítics, el imaginario de íconos latinos y piezas pop latinas (Santos y dinosaurios), el sabor de la gráfica argentina de los 90's, el ácido sentido del humor y la vibra noventera kitsch-latin-lover-chulo no hacen sino de esta obra, belleza y arte puro.



I wasnt familiar to the work of argentinian photographer, Marcos Lopez, until a friend introduced to me some weeks ago and I'm still fascinated with it; specially, with the 90's work which I think it's him at his best.
The bizarre characters always trying to eat the camera, the weird depth and perspectives, the ridiculous excess of color -some times exagerated by product of burning process in the lab; the political message, the imagery of latin icons and latin pop pieces (Saints and dinosaurs), the argentina graphic flavor of the 90's, the acid sense of humor and the huge 90's kitsch-latin-lover-chulo feeling the photos have are nothing but gorgeousness and pure art.

Ha pasado de todo en relación a /\/\/\Y/\, el último lanzamiento de M.I.A: El artículo del NYTimes que ensucia su imagen, su pelea con Diplo (productor y exnovio) y comentarios por parte de productores en cuando a su falta de interés en el álbum; las malas críticas que ha recibido el álbum en comparación a sus dos álbumes previos. Es un camino dificil para M.I.A ahora, pero estoy seguro que ella le gusta caminar sobre las piedras.

A mi no me importa la crítica ni nada de lo que escribí arriba. Creo que este álbum sí, no es el mejor de ella pero es pura brillantez, genialidad e inteligencia (la canción 'Lovalot' -que trata sobre el suicido con bombas- es absurdamente brillante!!). Lo único que le falta al álbum es cohesión entra las canciones. Después de la 6ta canción, StoryToBeTold, te pierdes y el álbum se torna pesado pero aún así, cada canción puesta sola, suena increible.

El video para su primer sencillo, XXXO, está a punto de ser lanzado. Tal vez ayude al álbum y levante expectativas. Con M.I.A nunca se sabe... o tal vez sí.



There has been a lot going on M.I.A's last release, /\/\/\Y/\: The supposed NYTimes article backlashing her, the feud with Diplo and comments on her lack of interest on this album; the bad critics the album has gotten after 2 aclaimed albums. It's a rocky road for M.I.A now, but I'm sure she loves to walk on rocks.

I really dont give a damn about the critics and what I just wrote above. I think this album is not her best (yeah, I can't fight that) but it's pure brillance, genius and clever (The song 'Lovalot' -which is about suicide bombimg- it's absolutely brilliant!!). The only thing the album lacks it's cohesion. After the 6th song, StoryToBeTold, you get lost and the album becomes heavy but still, each song played by itself, sounds amazing.

The video for her first single, XXXO is about to be released. Maybe it would lift the expectations. With M.I.A you never know... or maybe you do.

Con Jagger no he tenido mucho que ver, conozco poco su discografía y no me parece sexy como al resto del mundo, aun así, las fotos que han puesto me han parecido hermosas.

En este tipo de temas no me gusta dar mi punto de vista pero, debo decir que me alegra que hayan prohibido las corridas de toro, sin embargo, me molesta que cada vez las tradiciones de cada país se van perdiendo.

Paradójicamente, siento que cada vez involucionamos y nos volvemos más y más aburridos.

Qué pasará con los estadios? Y los hermosos trajes de torero? Qué pasará con el olé tan de corazón? Y las amantes de los toreros que solían vestirse casi que de viudas - por si acaso- en cada faena?

I dont like to give my opinion on this kind of topics but, I must say I'm glad the bullfights have been forbidden, however, I'm pissed of that countries are losing their traditions more and more.

Paradoxically, I feel that we are not evolving, we are going back and we are becoming more and more boring.

What's gonna happen with the stadium? And the beautiful bullfighter dresses? What's gonna happen with the 'Olé' screamed from the bottom of the lungs? And the lovers of the bullfighters who used to dress widow-like -just in case- in each event?

Would they become in memories?

I think this is probably my favorite editorial in a while. I just can't get enough of Natasha and her never-ending legs and Mario Sorrenti is doing some serious work that have made me fall in love with him plus, winter is here; lots of rains, floods and grey sky going on gets me really bored, so this tropical-colorfull edito is a great scape.
I'm starting to think that Im a person of calor and color. Really.

Creo que ésta es tal vez mi editorial favorita en un tiempo. Las piernas interminables de Natasha me ponen y Mario Sorrenti que anda haciendo cosas MUY buenas ultimamente hacen que me enamore más y más sin mencionar que, el invierno azota mi ciudad; la lluvia, innundaciones y cielos grices me aburren a cien así que esta edito colorida y tropical es un buen escape.
Estoy comenzando a pensar que soy una persona de calor y color. En serio.

CALVIN KLEIN FALL/WINTER 2010.2011

I'm really loving the direction that Calvin Klein ads are taking from some time ago. Their signature black and white mixed with the sharpness in the shapes and models are totally a plus compared to previous ads that involved covered cars (???) and a very confusing concept. This is only clothes and model which, we all know, is the amazing Lara Stone and the more fantastic duo after Batman and Robyn: Mert & Marcus, you know there are no let downs here.

Estoy amandao la dirección que están tomando los anuncios de Calvin Klein de un tiempo para acá. Su característico blanco y negro mezclado con los filosos cortes en las formas y poses son un deleite comparado a los anuncios previos que incluían autos cubiertos (???) y conceptos un poco confusos o demasiado filosóficos para mi entendimiento. Estos en cambio son, ropa y modelo la cual, sabemos es la increible Lara Stone agregándole el duo más fantástico después de Batman and Robyn: Mert & Marcus, sabremos que no habrían decepciones.

No hay mejor sentimiento que, llegar de vacaciones de una ciudad muy fria y desear acostarse sobre la arena y enrrojecerse por el sol.

LCD SOUNDSYSTEM - THIS IS HAPPENING

When back in april, the video from LCD SoundSystem 'Drunk Girls' came out I inmediately looked for it, not specifically because of the band but, because of Spike Jonze who returned to the direction of videos.
Of course, I loved the video and I still see it and laugh my ass off but now, who would have thought that 3 months laters, the band would become one of the most populars among this 'electro-indie-punk' wave? Well, I did. After watching the video, I inmediately downloaded the album which was such a great surprise from begining to end it takes you high and down with very experimental sounds and their voices that sometimes sounds like backups.
Their song 'Dance Yrself Clean' has been chosen the coolest song of the year 2010 by Billboard. Not bad at all.

Cuando en abril, el video de LCD SoundSystem, 'Drunk Girls' salió, inmediatamente lo busqué, no recisamente por la banda sino, porque Spike Jonze había regresado a la dirección de videos musicales.
Por supuesto, amé el video y todavía lo veo y muero de la risa.
Ahora, 3 meses después, quién pensaría que la banda se convertiría en una de las más populares en toda esta onda 'electro-indie-punk'? Pues, yo sí. Después de haber visto el video, inmediatamente descargué el álbum el cual resultó siendo una gran sopresa porque es perfecto de inicio a fin. Son de esos álbumes que te levantan y te bajan con sonidos experimentales y con un arreglo vocal que a veces parecen voces de apoyo.
Su canción 'Dance Yrself Clean' ha sido escogida por Billboard como la canción más cool del 2010. Nada mal.

AVANT-MERDE 1st STATEMENT

I dont know how many blogs are opened daily. Actually, I really don't care. What I really care is about my mental health and this constant need of opening blogs and leaving 'em right away. I think in this year I have opened about 5 blogs and they have -I think- 2-3 entries and that's it. It's annoying specially because when I want to open a blog and I try a name, it's already used and it has 2 or 3 entries! Imagine how frustrating it's that. Now, maybe in the future, some lost soul would want to open a blog an try a name I already took, and that person will curse me and will feel the same anger I felt for 000,1 seconds.

...well, I really dont care.
